Feeling stuck?
Most of the people who come to talk with me say, in one way or another, that they feel stuck. Sometimes it's a particular problem or situation. Other times it's a more general sense of not being able to move forward.
That can come from depression, anxiety, trauma, or something harder to name. Many people have already tried talking it through with friends or family, and they still feel stuck.
If that sounds familiar, a phone call is a good place to start.
I'm Jeff Shively. I've been helping individuals and couples move forward for more than 20 years, and I see positive outcomes on a daily basis.

How I work
We'll work together to create a plan to help you move forward. I'll help you develop tools that work now, while we also explore the underlying causes that are keeping you stuck in the first place.
The approach fits you rather than the other way around. Some people want practical tools they can start using this week. Others need to talk something through for a while before it starts to make sense. Most need both, at different points. We figure out which as we go.
Understanding these problems can be challenging, but it's rewarding. I provide an open, supportive, and confidential environment to do that work at your pace.

The first step is a phone call
I understand it isn't always easy to make the decision to begin counseling. A brief conversation will let us figure out what you need and whether I'm the right fit — the consultation is free and takes about 15 minutes. If we decide to go ahead, we can usually schedule your first session within a week.
